There are 37 elementary schools and 3 high schools in the Diocese of Jefferson City, spread throughout much of the state. While widespread, our schools collaborate in bringing the best practices in education and staff development into the classroom.

However, what sets Catholic schools apart is the covenant between parents and the schools. Parents are called to the amazing role as the first and best educators in the lives of their children, as well as the first to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with these young people.

Our Catholic schools partner with parents in this mission. The Catholic school program is rich in prayer and sacramental participation. Students will attend Mass, Benediction, adoration, and other liturgical prayers.

At Immaculate Conception School, students will learn how inspire faith in others while learning as Disciples of Christ. 

All 40 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Jefferson City operate under the same curriculum, which is updated regularly by a team of educators. These revisions take into consideration local state guidelines and national standards, but also build upon the work of curricula guides that have been successfully implemented in other dioceses.

The curricula for the Diocese of Jefferson City can be accessed HERE. While the curricula is consistent across the diocese, the local level has the autonomy to make textbook and program selections that meet the curricular standards.

Our diocesan standardized test is the Iowa Assessment of Basic Skills. Administered in the fall, this test provides data that guides resource selection and professional development.

Immaculate Conception has a wonderful preschool program that is based on exploration, intellectual and social development, playing and praying daily. Our preschool program places an emphasis on kindergarten readiness. 

A child must be three years of age before August 1st of that school year for admission into the preschool program. The child must be fully potty-trained and be able to dress him/herself.

Immaculate Conception offers a summer camp that features various themes, weekly field trips (including weekly swimming) and other educational opportunities for all participants. Our summer camp is open to students preschool age through students exiting 4th grade. (Preschool children must be 3 years of age prior to July 31st.)

Early morning care is offered beginning at 7:00am at no cost. 

After school care (ASC) is offered to Immaculate Conception families as well. There is a $25 registration fee per family.

• Full time (3 or more days per week) is $125 monthly for the 1st child; $100 for the 2nd child monthly and subsequent child after that.

• Daily Drop-In rates: $10/day regular dismissal; $11/day for 2 PM dismissal; $12/day for 1 PM dismissal.

It is recommended by Immaculate Conception School that the ideal classroom setting would not exceed 21 students per homeroom (Grades K-8). Anytime that potential enrollment  in a homeroom class should exceed the above maximums, prior consultation with the Immaculate Conception School Advisory Council is done by school administration. (Existing class sizes are grandfathered in and not affected by this statement unless class size decreased due to mobility, retention, financial constraints, etc. At this time, the above maximums would be applicable.)

Active parishioner families are not charged tuition for enrollment at Immaculate Conception School. (The financial obligation of parish families is satisfied through their tithe.) Under this model, the parish supports the education of children whose families are committed to the active practice of the Catholic faith.

Being an active parishioner means fully embracing the "all-in" attitude of parish engagement. This includes:

• A commitment to share one's talents and skills with God by filling out the Time and Talent card;
• A commitment to share one's treasures with God by sacrificially supporting the operations of the parish and school;
• A commitment to share oneself with God by faithfully participating in the sacraments, including every Sunday (or Saturday evening) and every Holy Day of Obligation;
• A commitment to sharing one's children with God, including by guiding them in learning and practicing the faith and ensuring they receive the proper sacraments.

Immaculate Conception welcomes non-Catholic students and their families to join our school community. Our non-Catholic families pay tuition instead of tithing to the parish. The Fee Structure for enrollment fees and tuition can be viewed HERE.

Immaculate Conception strongly encourages parents to be an active part of their student's school experience!

Parents are always welcome to join their students for assemblies or worship events.

In addition, many volunteer opportunities, such as room parent or cafeteria help, allow parents to make a stronger home-school connection for their children. The Home and School Association coordinates many school-based volunteer opportunities, but parents can always contact the main office to inquire about other ways to be involved.
