“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” - Matthew 28:19-20

Arranging Baptism at Immaculate Conception

Parents requesting the Sacrament of Baptism for their children should be registered members of the parish and should contact the parish office to begin scheduling the sacrament.

Please plan ahead by contacting our Baptism class coordinators and completing the Baptism Registration form. Baptism classes may be required in order to fully understand the gravity of the Sacrament. It is best for parents should try to see that their children are baptized within the first few weeks after birth.

Baptism Requirements

Parents of the child should be participating in Mass on Sundays & Holy Days of Obligation and be in full communion with the Catholic Church. If you are not a registered member of Immaculate Conception Parish, we ask that you register or receive approval from the Pastor.
Parents should support the parish with their time, talents and treasure.
Parents should be practicing their faith in the workplace, in their home and in civic life.
If parents are married, it should be recognized by the Roman Catholic Church.
Parents are required to attend a 1-hour Baptism class prior to the Baptism of their first child. The class is offered the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm in the Holy Name room. Children are welcome to attend with parents. (If parents have attended a Baptism class previously, they should provide the date and parish where the class was attended.) If you have any questions or concerns, please email the Baptism class coordinators or call the parish office (573-635-6143).
Baptisms can be scheduled during any of the weekend Masses, after the 5pm Masses on Saturday and Sunday and after the 10:30am Mass on Sundays. Baptism outside of these times need to be approved by the Pastor.

Requirements for Godparents

A Catholic serving as a Godparent

Godparents need to be confirmed in the Catholic Church
It is encouraged to have 1 Godmother and 1 Godfather but only 1 Godparent is required
Must be 16 years or older
Participate in Mass on Sundays & Holy days of Obligation & be in full communion with the Catholic Church
Support their parish with time, talents and treasure
Practice their faith in the workplace, in their home and in civic life
If married, the marriage should be recognized by the Roman Catholic Church

A non-Catholic serving as a Christian Witness (Sponsor)

A non-Catholic may serve as a Christian witness at a Catholic baptismal ceremony. He/she must be baptized in another Christian denomination, must be 16 years of age, and must be attending his/her own worship service on a regular basis. His/her name will be recorded in the parish baptismal registry and on the baptismal certificate.

ALL Godparent/Christian Witness are asked to provide a letter from their Pastor that states they are a member in good standing. *This includes parishioners of Immaculate Conception.
